May (Pettit) Rider

Edna May Rider was born March 10, 1935 in Roseville, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Ethel (Newman) Pettit. At the age of 85, May peacefully went to be with the Lord and her loving husband on December 21, 2020 surrounded by her family. May is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Jerry Rider whom she married on September 18, 1955. They were blessed with two daughters; Polly Harris of Zanesville and Julie Rider of Columbus. In addition, four grandchildren; Brandon (Misty) Harris of Dresden, Megan (Brent) Coffey of Nashport, Adam and Ajay Alderman of Columbus. As well as four great-grandchildren; Addison & Anna Harris and Emerson & Grayson Coffey. May also has numerous nieces, nephews and friends. May is survived by three sisters; Virginia (Robert) Hill of Columbus, Phyllis (Dean) Lyon of Conesville and Cathy (Gary) Heiney of Roseville. She is preceded in death by three brothers; Herb (Donna) Pettit, Ray (Carolyn) Pettit, and Don (Sharon) Pettit. She graduated from Roseville High School in 1954. May spent 27 years working in Roseville at Ungemach Pottery. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. May enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family. There wasn’t a youth sporting event she didn’t attend. She dedicated her life to her family and friends. May was nominated and awarded the Muskingum County Caregiver of the Year in 2016 for her selfless dedication taking care of her bedridden husband for over 7 years. She peacefully reunited with her loving husband Jerry, whom passed away November 23, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 26, 2020 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 10080 East Athens Road, Roseville, with services beginning at 2 pm with Pastor Paula Caton officiating.
