William M. “Mike” Kern, 72, of Zanesville, passed away Friday December 24, 2021 in Genesis Healthcare Systems after a sudden illness. He was born on October 17, 1949 in Kingsport, TN to the late William E. and Evelyn Castle Kern. Mike worked various jobs at local area potteries, doing road construction and was employed with Dollar General in the Maintenance department for over 20 years. He was a lover of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed taxidermy, golfing, sight-seeing and traveling around the country with his wife, Roxanne and spending time with his grandchildren. Mike also proudly served his country with the United States Air Force. Surviving him are his wife of 52 years, Roxanne Smith Kern of the home; daughters, Vickie (Matt) Orosz of Holiday, Florida and Michelle “Mikie” (Dale) Gibbs of Somerset; grandchildren, Joey Moss, Kyle (Natasha Saylor) Gibbs, Rebecca Gibbs; brother, Larry (Cinda) Kern; sister, Louise (Don) Swingle; good friend, Tim Honkus and extended family, Brian Daniels & Family. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Robert Gibbens and brother, Patrick Kern. Family and Friends may call Tuesday December 28, 2021 from 2pm to 5pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 33 N. Main Street, Roseville, where funeral services will take place at 5pm with Pastor James Anderson officiating. Cremation will follow.
