Ronald E. Miller Obituary

Ronald E. Miller 72, of Crooksville, and known to many as Crazy Horse, passed away on April 2, 2026, at Genesis Healthcare System in Zanesville. He was born on September 7, 1953, in Chillicothe, Ohio, and lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of the outdoors. Ronald proudly served in the United States Army during the end of the Vietnam era as a member of the cleanup crew, carrying with him the discipline, strength, and sense of duty that would remain with him throughout his life. After his military service, he devoted many years of tireless work as a landscape artist with Buckeye Landscaping. He was a man who found joy in the outdoors and in the company of others. Ronald was an avid hunter, especially enjoying rabbits, mushrooms, and squirrels, and he loved spending time fishing and camping. He appreciated back road adventures, good conversation, and the laughter of friends. Cooking was one of Ronald’s great joys, and his family will remember the meals he prepared with care and love. Ronald is survived by his wife of 38 years, Debbie (Savage) Miller; his children, Ronald (Sylvia) Miller II, Brian Paul, Kayla Paul, and Terra Nicole Savage; and his grandchildren, Ronnie Miller III, Kobe Miller, Dominic Miller, Kamber Matheney, AJ Roberts, and Kollen Roberts. He also leaves behind his great-grandchild, Freyr-Layne Matheney. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard (Johnna) Miller, Marilyn (Kenneth) Bartley, Robert Miller, and Sandra (Robert) Bushatz, as well as his stepsister, Sandra (John) Warfield. Also left to mourn his passing are his sisters-in law Tammy (Bart) Bookman, Cora (James) Wheeler, brothers-in law Terry (Christie Hampton) Savage, Richard (Cathy Baker) Savage, Johnny (Jody) Savage. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, James Miller Sr. and Doris Evans Phillips, his siblings James Miller and Lillian Miller, his great-grandchild, Violet Matheney and a special brother-in-law Darrell Lyons .
