Holly Ann Houk, 64, of Crooksville, passed away on October 29, 2023, in Akron, at her residence, after an extended Illness. She was born on December 23, 1958, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Bert Lawyer and Geneva “ Jenny” Simmons. She spent many years as a bookkeeper and public accountant, demonstrating her keen eye for detail and her dedication to her work. Alongside her late husband, William “Curt” Houk, she co-owned and operated Curt & Holly’s Snack Bar in Crooksville. In her personal life, Holly was a beacon of love and support. She was a tremendous mother to her children, Shane (Rachel) Peterson, Andrew Peterson, Scott (Erica) Houk, Ronda Lawyer, and Shannon Peterson. She took immense joy in her role as a grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Ava, Grayson, Tehya, Asia, Ashley, River, and Landon. Holly's love extended to her brothers, Gary Simmons and Eddie Simmons, and her sisters, Melanie Miller and Joyce Gleason. She also held a special place in her heart for her nieces, Susan Riggs and Shellie Anderson, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Holly was known for her love of travel and her knack for organizing memorable trips. She enjoyed planning yearly weekend trips to Put In Bay, Daytona Beach, and NASCAR races for the race fans of the Snack Bar. Her Halloween parties and scavenger hunts were legendary in the community, showcasing her creativity, her sense of fun, and her ability to bring people together.
