Holly Ann Houk, 64, of Crooksville, passed away on October 29, 2023, in Akron, at her residence, after an extended Illness. She was born on December 23, 1958, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Bert Lawyer and Geneva “ Jenny” Simmons. Holly's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, her love for her community, and her passion for making others feel valued and appreciated. She spent many years as a bookkeeper and public accountant, demonstrating her keen eye for detail and her dedication to her work. Alongside her late husband, William “Curt” Houk, she co-owned and operated Curt & Holly’s Snack Bar in Crooksville. The Snack Bar was not just a business for Holly; it was a place where she could connect with her community, make her patrons feel appreciated, and even considered some as extended family. In her personal life, Holly was a beacon of love and support. She was a tremendous mother to her children, Shane (Rachel) Peterson, Andrew Peterson, Scott (Erica) Houk, Ronda Lawyer, and Shannon Peterson. She took immense joy in her role as a grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Ava, Grayson, Tehya, Asia, Ashley, River, and Landon. Holly's love extended to her brothers, Gary Simmons and Eddie Simmons, and her sisters, Melanie Miller and Joyce Gleason. She also held a special place in her heart for her nieces, Susan Riggs and Shellie Anderson, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Holly was known for her love of travel and her knack for organizing memorable trips. She enjoyed planning yearly weekend trips to Put In Bay, Daytona Beach, and NASCAR races for the race fans of the Snack Bar. Her Halloween parties and scavenger hunts were legendary in the community, showcasing her creativity, her sense of fun, and her ability to bring people together. Holly is now reunited with her beloved husband of 24 years, Curt, who was her constant companion and partner in life. The mention of one was never without the other, and now they are eternally together. She is also preceded by her parents, Bert Lawyer and Geneva “Jenny” Simmons, her son Dustin Houk, brother Gary Lawyer, and her brother sisters Judy Boling, Janet Butcher, Carole Browning, Shirley Waliszewski; and many friends, gone too soon. Calling hours will be held Monday, November 6, 2023 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm -8pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 11:00am with Pastor Marc Caton Officiating. A Celebration of the Life with Luncheon and Fellowship will follow at the Snack Bar, in Crooksville.
