Earl L. “Cricket” Nelson, 76, of New Lexington, passed away Thursday June 17, 2021 under the care of Genesis Hospice at the Morrison House. He was a son of the late Jesse James and Betty Williams Nelson, born in East Fultonham on September 26, 1944. Earl loved the Lord and was often known for handing out Bible tracts. He was a member of FWB Church of Somerset. Earl was formerly employed with many local area potteries and dedicated 20 years of labor to the Peabody Coal Mine until they closed. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Debbie Urban Nelson of the home; brothers, John Nelson of Sego and Dean Nelson of New Lexington; sister, Peggy Sharkey of New Lexington; many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents and brothers, Jimmy Nelson, Donald Nelson, Thomas “Pete” Nelson and Richard “Dick” Nelson. Calling hours will be held Saturday June 19, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 1:30PM at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville, where funeral services will be held at 1:30PM with Rev. Scott Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt Horeb Cemetery, near Crooksville.
