Corey R. Lewis, 50, of Crooksville, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at his residence after an extended illness. Born on September 23, 1973, in Zanesville, Ohio, Corey brought joy and laughter to those around him throughout his life including his parents, Ruth (Jeffers) Bob McClain and the late Thomas Randall Lewis. Professionally, Corey dedicated many years of his life as an auxiliary police officer to several villages in Perry County and spent 19 years with the Longaberger Company working in security. He held his most recent employment as a Kiln Fireman at CERCO, where his hardworking nature and commitment to excellence were well known. His colleagues respected him for his reliability and his camaraderie. Corey's faith played a significant role in his life, and he was a member of the Church of Christ. Corey is survived by his devoted companion of 11 years, Tina Sowers, who stood by him through life's many adventures. He was a proud father to his children, Joshua (Amber) Lewis, Justin (Emily) Lewis, Jordan (Abigail) Lewis, Jaden (Austin) Lewis, Mariah (Mark) Kinn, and Joshua (Morgan) Robinson. His love for his family was a sentiment he echoed by the joy he found in his role as a grandfather to his 16 grandchildren. He leaves behind his caring mother, Ruth (Bob) McClain; brother and sister-in-law, TJ (Madison) Lewis, and his sister, Sherrie (Russ McDonald) Norris. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, each of whom added a unique thread to the tapestry of his life. His faithful fur companion, Mishka, was by his side, providing comfort and friendship during his journey. Corey's passions extended beyond his work and faith. He was an avid motorcyclist, often seen riding his Harley Davidson across the open roads, where he found freedom and solace. His love for motorsports also led him to the dirt track races, a pastime he thoroughly enjoyed. Corey shared this interest with his special friends, Terry Hinkle, and Larry Burns, with whom he spent countless hours working on race cars and reveling in the thrill of the sport. Corey was preceded in death by his father, Thomas R. "Randy" Lewis, with whom he now shares eternal peace as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents. In following Corey’s wishes, a dignified cremation will take place under the direction of Ross-Frash Funeral Home and a celebration of life will be held in his memory at a future date. Ross-Frash Funeral Home, Crooksville, is honored to have been chosen to care for the Lewis family.
