Cecilia Johnson Obituary

Cecilia M. (Redfern) Johnson, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, at the age of 76. Born on February 1, 1948, in Zanesville, Ohio, Cecilia was the daughter of the late John and Virginia (O'Leary) Redfern and grew up in a vibrant household alongside her many siblings. Her legacy continues through her beloved son, Paul Street; grandchildren, Heather (Alex) Green and Casey Street; and her siblings, Judy (Jimmy) Brown, Nancy (Doug) Gordon, Kathleen (Dow) Cannon, Laura Buck, Rita Redfern, Fred (Cris) Redfern, Mark (Kaye) Redfern, John Redfern Jr, Marty (Laura) Redfern, Steve (Susie) Redfern, Brent (Debbie) Redfern, and Ron (Kelly) Redfern. Cecilia led a life marked by her funny, adventurous spirit and courageous heart. Her laughter was infectious, her stories captivating, and her presence a source of comfort and inspiration. She was a devout Catholic, and her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, providing strength and solace in times of need. She dedicated many years to United Technologies among other local companies. She found joy in serving the community at Leroy's Restaurant in Wooster, where she served as prep cook and her great personality and social skills made her a favorite among patrons. Beyond her work, Cecilia's interests were a testament to her love for life and her appreciation for simple pleasures. An adept quilter, she poured her creativity into every pattern and stitch, crafting beautiful works of art that became treasured family heirlooms. Cecilia was also a master in the kitchen, her cooking bringing together family and friends. An avid fisher, she found peace and tranquility at Ellis Dam, where she could often be found relaxing and enjoying the beauty of nature. Cecilia now joins in eternal rest her daughter, the late Ronda Street Pennington; her husband, the late Dale Johnson; her sister, the late Maureen Wilson and brother-in-law, Ed Buck. She leaves behind a legacy of love, a multitude of memories, and a family that spans generations, including several nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will miss her deeply. Honoring Cecilia’s wishes, a peaceful cremation will take place under the direction of Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville.
