William (Bill) M. Shipley, 89, passed away April 15, 2015 at Genesis Good Sam Hospital. He was born in Ironspot, Ohio to the Late Jonah and Edith Mae Sims Shipley. Bill served our country proudly in the United States Marines and protected our country in WWII. He was a dedicated volunteer for the Roseville Fire Department and was employed as a painter at Columbia Cement and Sears and Roebuck for 26 years. Bill enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing as well as having an immense love for children. He knew all the children's names and memorized them by heart. Bill was a member of the Muskingum #368 Masonic Lodge, Zanesville VFW Post 1058, Roseville American Legion Post 71 and a past clown for Grotto where he entertained children for many years. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lucille "Boots" Rhoades Shipley. Sons, William Lee (Sally) Shipley of Hanover, Ohio; Tim (Cheri) Shipley of Norwich, Ohio. Grandson, Travis (Sarah) Shipley; and Great Grandchildren, Thaddeus and Tytan; a sister, Toodles Nicholson; and lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred, Rodney, Hershel, Gene, Carl, Richard and Donald; and sisters, Esther Ackley, Glenna Rucker and Ruth Pettit. Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home 33 N. Main Street Roseville. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20 at 1 pm. at the funeral home with Rev. Joy French officiating. Burial will follow in Iliff cemetery with full military honors.
