Obituary

Shirley A. Savage, 80, of Zanesville, formerly of Crooksville, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at her residence. She was born March 23, 1937 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to the late Gilbert and Alice Hale Crabtree. Shirley was the first female kidney transplant recipient at the Ohio State University Medical Center in 1968, receiving a kidney from her loving brother Arthur. She graduated from the Meredith Business College and worked for Genesis Healthcare as a medical transcriptionist for 44 years. Shirley was also a member of the North Terrace Church of Christ in Zanesville. She is survived by her daughter, Crystal Savage of the home and a son, Rick Savage of Zanesville; grandchildren, Samuel (Crystal) Savage, Erika (Samantha) Savage and Benjamin (Jordan) Savage; great grandchildren, Adriana Savage, Lucas Woodard and Isabella Savage; and a sister, Mary Tolliver of Crooksville. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald, Frank, Lawrence, Arthur and George Crabtree; and sister, Ruth Paivio. Friends and Family may call from 12pm to 2pm Friday, May 5, 2017 at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville, where funeral services will begin at 2pm. Burial will follow in Crooksville Cemetery.
