Robin A. Zinn, 69, of Crooksville, known to many as Robin and to others as Chief Zinn, passed away on August 27, 2026, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. He was born on April 9, 1957, in Zanesville, Ohio, at the Old Bethesda Hospital, and he lived a life marked by service, loyalty, and deep devotion to the people around him. Robin was the beloved son of the late Bob and Ann Etta (Pangle) Zinn. He grew up with a strong sense of duty and community, values that would guide him throughout his life. A 1975 graduate of Crooksville High School, he continued his education in the police academy and began a career dedicated to protecting others and serving his hometown with honor. He worked as a deputy with the Perry County Sheriff’s Department before accepting the position of Crooksville Chief of Police, a role he held for 33 years until his retirement in 2012. Chief Zinn was deeply loved and respected by the community he served. He cared profoundly about the residents of the village he protected and treated them with fairness, respect, and a steady commitment that earned him the trust of many. His presence in Crooksville was a source of reassurance, and his leadership reflected both strength and compassion. Robin took great pride in his family and found his greatest joy in being a father and grandfather. He is survived by his sons, Aaron (Kalie) Zinn, and Chris Zinn; his grandchildren, Preston, Parker (Chloe), Annabelle, and Elsie, as well as by his brother, Sam (Jody) Zinn. In addition, he is also survived by his special friends, Mike Holcomb, Beth Kayser, Rodney Walters, Joey Carr, ad Wyatt “Turkey” Taylor, who shared many meaningful moments with him over the years. Those who knew him will remember his love of travel, especially his trips to Nashville, where he enjoyed the atmosphere and the music he loved so much. He had a special appreciation for music, and Elton John was among his favorites. Robin was also known as an amazing cook, someone who could bring people together around a good meal and a warm table. He loved a good time with his buddies and treasured the laughter, stories, and fellowship that came with time spent among friends. Robin’s life was one of service, friendship, and devotion to family and community.
