Melvin E. Rupe Sr, 76, of Cannelville, passed away on September 25, 2026, at Oaks at Northpointe in Zanesville, Ohio. He was born on November 24, 1949, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Andrew “Pete” and Irma (Cullison) Rupe. Throughout his working years, Melvin was employed with Ohio Ferro Alloy, Cookson Pottery, and Yellow Cab. His career was marked by hard work and consistency, and he carried those same qualities into every other part of his life. Melvin enjoyed many pastimes that brought him happiness and relaxation. He loved golfing and bowling, and he was an enthusiastic fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors, where he found peace and contentment. Yardwork was something he especially enjoyed tackling, and he took pride in keeping things neat and well cared for. These interests reflected his appreciation for staying active and making the most of each day. Most of all, Melvin treasured time with his family. He especially enjoyed gatherings during the holidays and summer cookouts, when laughter, conversation, and shared memories filled the air. These moments were among his most cherished, and he valued the togetherness they represented. His family meant everything to him, and his love for them was evident in the way he lived and the way he remembered those who came before him. He leaves behind his daughter, Marsha Ann Rupe Brown, and his stepchildren, Trent (Sharon) Heskett, Cary (Deb) Heskett, Lorie (Ron) Kane, Crystal (Jeff) Ransom, and Shanda (Gary) McConnell. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy “Pug” Berger; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Harold Cullison. Melvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Cassandra “Cassie” Zink Rupe, as well as his children, infant son Robert Lee Rupe, Melvin Rupe Jr. and Yvonne Hoffman. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Andrew “Pete” and Irma (Cullison) Rupe, and several brothers and sisters. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life, and he carried their influence with him always. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 4pm -7pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 33 N. Main Street, Roseville. Following calling hours, a dignified cremation will take place with graveside services scheduled in the future where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Cassie, in Stovertown Lutheran Cemetery.
