Obituary

Lucille “Boots” Shipley, 100, of Roseville, Ohio, passed away on October 16, 2026, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House in Zanesville. She was born on February 12, 1926, in Rose Farm, Ohio, to the late James Wade and Myrtle (Savage) Rhoades. Lucille lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to her family, her friends, and the community she called home. She carried herself with quiet strength, a warm spirit, and a kind heart that left a lasting impression on those who knew her. She is survived by her sons, William L. Shipley and his wife Sally of Hanover, and Tim Shipley and his wife Cheri of Norwich. She also leaves behind her grandson, Travis Shipley and his wife Sarah, and her great-grandsons, Thaddeus Shipley and Tytan Shipley. Lucille is also survived by her sister-in-law, Dorotha Rhoades, as well as several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. She was blessed with special friends and neighbors, Loretta, Nancy, Kathy, and Darla, whose companionship and kindness meant so much to her over the years. Lucille was a member of the Crooksville-Roseville VFW Post 9090, the DAV of Putnam, and the Eastern Star. Her involvement in these organizations reflected her respect for service, fellowship, and community. She valued the friendships she made through these associations and appreciated the sense of belonging they provided. In her younger and healthier years, Lucille enjoyed bowling, shopping, and playing bingo. These simple pleasures brought her joy and gave her opportunities to spend time with others. Even as her health changed, she continued to appreciate the moments that brought laughter, conversation, and companionship. She was known for enjoying life’s everyday blessings and for finding happiness in the company of family and friends. Lucille was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Shipley, whom she married December 20, 1946, as well as her parents. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Pearl Miller, Anabelle Williamson, Mae McHenry, and Mary Rhoades, and her brothers, Benjamin, Jess, Clarence, and James Rhoades, along with James Victor Rhoades. Calling hours will be held Tuesday. October 20, 2026, from 10:00am – 12:00pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 33 N. Main Street, Roseville, where funeral services will begin at 12:00pm with Rev. Joy E.
