Kevin B. Papageorge, 64, of Crooksville, passed away on August 16, 2026, at Ohio Health Riverside Methodist Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 31, 1962, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Christopher and Mary “Mae” (Rambo) Papageorge. He lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, creativity. Kevin was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Corey Purvis) Barker; his grandchildren, Joshua and Haylee McCormick and Ethan Lyons; his siblings, Craig (Deb) Papageorge, Lora (Tim) Guenthner, Kent (Tammy) Papageorge, Michael (Destiny) Papageorge, and Alicia (Troy) Tipton; his brother-in-law, Rodney McPeck; his sister-in-law, Debbie Papageorge; his faithful fur companion, Tundra; and 125 nieces and nephews, along with a host of extended family members and friends who cherished him deeply. After high school, Kevin graduated from the Rocky Mountain School of the Arts, a reflection of the creativity and skill that would remain a defining part of his life. He was a gifted and artistic man who excelled in ceramics and took great pride in the work of his hands. He often shared his creations with others, and many who knew him admired not only his talent but also the joy he found in making something beautiful. His work was a true expression of who he was, and he was happy to show it off and, at times, to sell pieces that reflected his craftsmanship and care. Kevin was also known for his enthusiasm and love of life. He was a huge demolition derby fan and traveled near and far to attend events, always eager to witness the excitement and energy of the sport he enjoyed so much. His interests were a reflection of his spirited personality, and he embraced the things he loved with genuine excitement and loyalty. He was a member of the Crooksville-Roseville Pottery Festival Committee, where he volunteered his time and contributed to the success of the event. His involvement in the committee was one more example of his willingness to serve and support his community. Kevin was also Catholic by faith and a lifelong member of the Church of the Atonement, where his faith remained an important part of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Mary “Mae” Rambo Papageorge; his brother, Lyn Papageorge; his sisters, Renita Leach and Leaninne McPeck; and his nephew, Tegan Papageorge. Calling hours will be held Friday August 21, 2026, from 4pm -7pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville. Following calling hours, a dignified cremation will be conducted, and he will be laid to rest with is mother, Mae in St. Jospeh Catholic Cemetery.
