Joe
Bishop
Jul 10, 1949 — Sep 13, 2024
Joe Bishop, 75, of Crooksville, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, at his home, after an extended illness. Born on July 10, 1949, in Zanesville, Ohio, Joe was the son of the late George and Helen (Frisbee) Bishop. Joe's life was shared by his loving family, including his late wife, Wavelyn (Emory) Bishop. He was a dedicated stepfather to Greg, Jay, and John Johnson, Cindy (Don) Reed, and Becky Dalrymple. His family brought even more happiness to him with additions of each of his grandchildren Amy, Tim, James (Tiffany), Jessica (Phillip), Josh (Nicole), Jared, Ashley, Aaron, and James Johnson, and was blessed to be a great-grandfather to 16 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a brother, Dan Bishop and daughter-in-law, Linda Johnson. Joe dedicated over three decades of service to the village of Crooksville, working in the water and sewer departments. His commitment to his work was matched only by his involvement with the McConnelsville Eagles, where he shared camaraderie and community spirit. A man who enjoyed small things, Joe was often found cracking a few cold ones and reminiscing with friends at local bars. He cherished the time spent along the river at his property with family, where his presence was as constant as the flowing waters. Joe's world-famous bean dip was a highlight at gatherings on holidays among folks, and his great personality made him a friend to all. He was preceded in death by his wife Wavelyn, his parents George and Helen, brother Raymond Bishop, sister Pauline (Bob) Allen, and sister Ruth Adams along with his stepson Mike Johnson. Graveside services will be held Monday September 16, 2024, at 11:00 am in Crooksville Cemetery with Pastor Marc Caton officiating.
