Harold "Barney" Shepard, 92, of Roseville, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 21, 2021 at Genesis Healthcare in Zanesville. He was born in Newton Township on September 19,1929 to the late Ralph and Sarah Canter Shepard. Barney spent his lifetime working construction in various places and farming his land. He loved the outdoors, fishing, farming, cutting wood and visiting with his neighbors. Most that know him would agree that he was a great storyteller with some interesting tales to tell. Barney proudly served our country  in the United States Army during the Korean War. He is survived by niece and nephews, Kerri (Toby) Gilligan, Brent (Angie) Cavinee, Todd (Trina) Cavinee, other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Darlene Shepard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Cavinee Shepard; special brother-in-law, Gene (Leanna) Cavinee; sister, Cleata Hicks; brothers, Arnold, Thelbert and Merold Shepard. Graveside services will be held at 4pm Monday October 25, 2021 at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the  Muskingum County Animal Shelter, 1430 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. Ross-Frash Funeral Homes, 33 N.
