Gale E. Spurbeck, 79, of Crooksville, passed away, Thursday May 4, 2017 at Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville after an extended illness. He was born April 12, 1938 in Bristol, Ohio, a son of the late Byersel I (By) and Mary Ellen (Hankinson) Spurbeck. Gale was a graduate of New Lexington High School, a U.S. Army Veteran and was retired from the Community Bank in Crooksville. He was a retired sports official, having officiated both High School and lower level baseball, basketball, football and softball for over 40 years, since 1973. Gale was a member of the MVL League and the OHSAA officials. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia (Householder) Spurbeck of the home; children, Brian (Cindy) Spurbeck of Bethel Park, Pa. , Karen (John) Spung of Crooksville, Kevin (Martha) Spurbeck of Pataskala and Alison (Scott) Rambo of Roseville; grandchildren, Joshua (Lora) Spurbeck, Megan Spurbeck, Logan (Tori) Spung, Dylan Spung, Murphie Rambo, Carlie Rambo, Melissa Spurbeck and Kristen Spurbeck; great grandchildren, Emerson Spung and Nolan Spurbeck. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nial Wayne, Bobby Eugene and Clyde Richard Spurbeck; sisters, Evelyn Spurbeck Walker and Barbara Spurbeck Gleason. Friends and Family may call Sunday May 7, 2017 from 2 pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8 pm at ROSS-FRASH FUNERAL HOME, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville, where funeral services will be held Monday May 8, 2017 at 1 pm with Pastor Marc Caton officiating. Burial will follow in Iliff Cemetery with full military honors.
