Obituary

Forrest R. Simmons, 70, of Roseville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House surrounded by his family. He was born April 23, 1945 in Roseville to the late Clover Simmons and Margaret Ward Simmons Lounsbury. Forrest was a former mechanic and retired employee of the Ferro Alloy and Burnham Boiler and owned T.J's Tavern in the late 1970's and early 80's. He served our country proudly in the United States Navy as a jet mechanic during the Vietnam Conflict. Forrest was an avid gardener with a love of zinnas, always having two gardens that he shared the harvest with anyone wanting fresh produce. He was a self taught winemaker, becoming a master at it over the years. Forrest loved nature and fishing. He was a former coach of Roseville Rams football, baseball, softball and youth leagues in the Roseville area. Forrest is survived by his children, Laura (Paul) Foster of Zanesville, Bridgette (Daryl) Vines of East Fultonham, Forrest Ray Simmons, Jr of Philo and Sheri (Bobby) Todd of Zanesville; Grandchildren, Ashley Lane, Amanda Foster, Stacie Welch, Daryl Vines Jr., Allison Foster, Courtney Vines, Ian Chambers, Ali Vines, Elijah Chambers and McKynzi Wilson; 7 Great Grandchildren; Brothers, John (Jennie) Simmons of Crooksville, James (Betty) Simmons of San Bernardino, C alifornia and Brother-in-Law, Steve Wood of Roseville; a special niece, Lydia Layne and special friends, Mike "Wapahoe" Abella and Dick Magalski. He was preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children, Cora Erwin; step-father, Larry Lounsbury; brother, Kenneth Simmons; and Sister, Marlene Wood. Graveside services with full military honors will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery Saturday April 30, 2016 at Noon.
