Ernest Edward Baker, 71, of New Lexington passed away April 1, 2016 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Born June 26, 1944 in Crooksville to the late Ivan and Helen Giles Baker, he was a master carpenter and brick layer. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. Ernest was active in many community activities and organizations holding memberships in the Crooksville American Legion Basil Grimes Post 222, Crooksville-Roseville VFW Post 9090, the Crooksville Sportsman Club and was a past member of the Crooksville Fire Department and EMT. He loved fishing and hunting and was involved with the Children's Fishing Derby. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Fields Baker, of which he spent 24 years by her side 19 of which they were married; Sons, Randy Roush and Phil Roush of New Lexington and Andy Baker of Crooksville, Jim (Angie) Baker of Crooksville; daughters, Kelly (Michael) Ryan of Delaware, Autumn (Mark) Stimmel of New Lexington and Lisa Baker of Crooksville; 10 grandchildren, one of which he considered his best buddy of 11 years, Storm Stimmel; several great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brothers, Fred (Nola) Baker of Six Mile Turn; brother-in-law, Joe Rieger of Illinois and a sister, Judy (Chuck) Haley of Lancaster. In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Alexander and Mary Rieger and brother Raymond (Bud) Baker. Calling Hours will be held from 11 am until the time of service Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at ROSS-FRASH FUNERAL HOME, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville, where funeral services will be held at 3pm with Pastor John Moriarty officiating. Following the service, full military honors will be conducted on site. Friends and family are invited to an afternoon of lunch and fellowship at the New Lexington Baptist Church, 890 S.Main Street, New Lexington.
