David E. Garris, 64, of Crooksville, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, at the SKLD Care Facility in New Lexington. Born on December 19, 1959, in Zanesville, Ohio, Dave's journey through life was marked by his infectious sense of humor, his selfless nature, and his boundless kindness. Dave was a man whose laughter could light up a room. He was the beloved prankster of his family, always ready with a joke or a playful trick to bring a smile to everyone's face. His unique sense of humor was only matched by his talent for music. A skilled guitarist, Dave found joy in strumming melodies and sharing his love for music with those around him. A hardworking individual, Dave dedicated many years as a laborer with Velotta Construction Company, where he contributed to bridge work in West Virginia. His commitment to his work was paralleled by his service in the National Guard, a testament to his dedication to his country and community. Dave was a man of many interests. He had a green thumb, enjoying time he spent tending to his garden, and was also quite the handyman, always ready to fix anything that needed repair. He cherished the simple pleasures of life, like watching his favorite westerns on TV or enjoying cookouts and family gatherings. Dave's family was the center of his world. He is survived by his loving daughters, Nancy Chenault, Donna Garris, and Ariel Garris, and his nine grandchildren, who will miss him dearly. His sisters, Carol (Mike) Densmore, Mona (Scott) Harper, and Lisa (Jim) Stanley, and his faithful fur companion, No-No. While Dave is now reunited with his late parents, Byah "Bill" and Donna (Pitcock) Garris, his brother Steve Garris, and his granddaughter Faith Garris, his legacy of laughter and love will continue to live on through his family and a host of special friends who were fortunate enough to know him. No calling hours will be observed, and a dignified cremation will take place under the direction of Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville.
