Carl (David) Russell, 75, of Portersville, passed away at 5:45 am, Sunday December 24, 2017 at his home. He retired from Owens Corning after 35 years to do some travelling and spend time with his family. He was known for his beautiful woodworking. David was a huge fan of the Cincinnati Reds, never missing a game. He was also a huge Dale Earnhardt fan as well and grieved deeply upon the death of his hero. David was a Methodist by faith and a participant in the Southern Ohio Emmaus Men's Walk. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Evelyn Sidwell Russell; sons, John (Sara) Russell, Mike (Bev) Henry; daughters, Sheila (Dan) Henry, Anita Henry, Susan (Doug) Smith, Michelle (Terry) Kern, Toni (Lewis) Wilson; brother, Tom; sister, Sally; Children of his previous marriage, Barbie, Carla, Martha and David Jr.; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and his beloved dog, Gracie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Baker Russell White; father, Carl A. Russell; step father, John White; brothers, Doug and Bill Russell and grandson, Jordan Harrison. Family and Friends may call Friday, December 29, 2017 from 10:00 am until time of service at 2:00 pm at Porterville United Methodist Church with Pastor Mary Perani and Pastor Sanford Short officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, Portersville.
