Brian S. Schmidt, 59, of Mt. Perry, passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2026, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 11, 1966, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late James E. Schmidt and Cheryl (Pride) Schmidt Lytton and lived a life marked by quiet strength, simple joys, and a deep appreciation for the world around him. Brian was a beloved son, brother, and family member whose presence brought comfort and familiarity to those who knew him best. his life. He is survived by his siblings, Jimmy Schmidt, Craig Schmidt, Stacie Schmidt, and Robert Schmidt; Richard Zachrich, affectionately known as “Papi,” who raised him and played an important role in his life and his stepfather Thomas Lytton. Throughout his life, Brian worked in various special needs workshops until he was no longer able to continue. His work reflected a steady and dependable spirit, and he found purpose in being part of environments where he could contribute in meaningful ways. Brian’s life was a reminder that value is found not only in great accomplishments, but also in kindness, perseverance, and the everyday ways a person touches the lives of others. Brian enjoyed the simple pleasures that made each day more meaningful. He liked playing pool and spending time outdoors, especially when he could mow the grass or be surrounded by nature. He had a natural love for plants and was known as an avid plant lover with a true green thumb. His plants thrived under his care, and he took pride in watching them grow healthy and strong. This gift reflected his patience and attentiveness, as well as the quiet satisfaction he found in nurturing living things. Whether he was tending to plants, enjoying the fresh air, or spending time in familiar routines, Brian found contentment in the things that brought him peace.
