Sammy J. Zinn

Sammy J. Zinn, 80, of Crooksville, went to be with his wife, Polly, at 4:05 AM Tuesday December 4, 2018 at the Oaks at Northpointe in Zanesville. On January 31, 1938 Sam was born in Zanesville to the late Samuel M. and Nettie Nelson Zinn. He was a welder, retiring from Owens Corning Fiberglass after many years of service. Sam was a member of the Crooksville VFW #9090, Crooksville American Legion Post 222, Knights of Columbus Hall 1065 of New Lexington and Church of the Atonement in Crooksville. He was an avid Ohio State fan and loved his Buckeye Football and his grandchildren. Sam served our country and fought for our freedom in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, while stationed in Korea. Surviving are his children, Lisa (Mark) Wilson of East Fultonham and Darren Zinn of Crooksville; grandchildren, Dash (Ashlee) McNeal, Tori (Logan) Spung, Codi (Kelsey) Debolt, Colt Zinn, Shannon Zinn, Tyler Zinn, Elizabath Wilson and Riley Wilson; great grandchildren, Kipplyn, Krew and Krome McNeal, Emerson Spung, Axel Zinn, Landon Zinn, Ahlaya and Braxton Debolt. He will be greatly missed by his faithful fur companion, Bentley. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Polly Dillehay Zinn; brothers, Bob and Gerald Zinn; sisters, Wanda Zinn and Sonia Zinn. Calling Hours will be held from 2pm to 8pm, Thursday December 6, 2018 at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville where Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday December 7, 2018 at Church of the Atonement, 310 Winter Street., Crooksville with Father Michael Hartge as celebrant. Cremation will follow the mass and burial will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery at a future date.
