Larry Edward Lanning

Larry E. Lanning, 78, of Newark, passed away, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Hospice of Central Ohio surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 21, 1938 in Crooksville, to the late Edward and Ruby Eppley Lanning. Larry retired from Rockwell in 1996 where he worked as a machine operator and most recently was employed with Arensberg Pharmacy as a courier. He loved fishing, gardening and could be found outside in his garden at any time. Larry was considered a major tinkerer, was a loyal OSU football fanatic and loved NASCAR. He also proudly served his country through the Unites States Army and Air National Guard. He is survived by sons; Shane Lanning and Curtis Lanning of Newark; step son, Darin (Teresa) Anders of Crooksville; daughters, Ruby (Timothy) Moore and Lara Lanning of Newark; step daughter, Amanda Anders Smith of Alabama; grandchildren, Christopher Moore, Nicholas Moore, Ryan Anders, Kahlie Lewis, Macey Fowler, Kennedy Ford, Kirkland Martin and Melissa Moore; great grandchildren, Brayden Anders, Hunter Moore and Layne Ford; brothers, James, Dave, Steve, Gary and Tony Lanning; sisters, Sally Foglesong, Janet Hodge and Susan Rich; sister-in-law, Kay Caffroy; dear friend, Betty Prince; and faithful fur companions, Annie Grace, Mya and Macy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Ann Young Lanning; his parents; and son, Edward Lanning. Friends and Family may call Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 noon at Ross-Frash Funeral, 207 Burley St., Crooksville. Services will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor James Lanning officiating. Burial will follow in Dutch Hill Cemetery, with military honors observed.
