Gary D. "Darrow" Lewis

Gary D. “Darrow” Lewis, 74, of Cleveland Heights, passed away at 10:05 am Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Hillcrest Hospital after a sudden illness. Gary was born January 6, 1943 in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of the late Robert D. Lewis and Martha Conaway Lewis. He graduated from Baldwin Wallace College in 1964 and dedicated most of his life to music and choral directing, which he loved. He was employed with the Hawken Upper School from 1988 until 2015 where he shared his love for music and theatrics, touching many students and greatly influencing their lives. Gary most recently was the musical director for the Church of the Good Shepard in Lyndhurst, Ohio. He is survived by his Aunt, Jean Lewis Gold; cousins, Pamela Liddy (Jim) Perilstein, Paul Michael (Kim) Gold, Marcia Ann (Ken) Schoeppner, Martin Coy, Thomas F. (Patti) Liddy and several other cousins; dear friend and companion, Rita Woodworth. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Donald Ray Lewis. Graveside services will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 at 12 noon in Iliff Cemetery, Crooksville, Ohio, with Pastor Larry Taylor officiating.
