Edna Gay Rhodes, 96, of Roseville, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 17, 2017 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House. She was born September 16, 1920 in Crooksville to the late Henry and Teressa Valentine Fluharty. Gay was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, member of the Roseville American Legion Post 71, Retired Officers Association and Ohio Eastern Star Duncan Falls Chapter. Gay graduated nursing school from the Bethesda Campus in Zanesville and then entered into the United States Army Corp where she achieved 2nd Lieutenant rank and served as a Registered Nurse. She later worked for Dr. Phillips. Gay is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve (Marcia) Rhodes of Roseville; sister, Fay Fluharty of Roseville; grandchildren, Matthew and Hunter Rhodes; step granddaughter, Dacia (Jason) Lay; nieces and nephews, Linda Fulk, Ron Fluharty, Don Fluharty, Gay-Wynn Cooper, Dave Fluharty, Sherman Fluharty and Carol Sue Dreier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde H. Rhodes who passed away in 1995; an infant son, Clyde Rhodes, Jr and infant daughter, Faith Rhodes; sisters, Alma Bush, Zetta Bush and Cleo Caton; brothers, Guy, Melvin, Winford, Russell and Okey Fluharty; and a niece, Patricia Fluharty Bell. Friends and family may call Monday March 20, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 33 Main Street, Roseville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 21 at 11:00 am at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Pastor Carolyn Hoskinson, Pastor Marc Caton, Pastor John Sowers and Chaplain William Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery next to her husband with full military honors.
